Today we went on a State Park adventure with Bop-Bop (Steven's dad)! Here it is in pictures:
Snacking before our hike (This is unfortunately the only picture with Bop-Bop in it, in the background. How did he keep avoiding my camera?)
How baby spent the afternoon
The first alligator sighting (the girls and I only saw him from a distance)
Some father/daughter moments
Next alligator sighting...this was the path we were walking down. Look how close he is! We walked as far away as we could and he didn't move. The girls were terrified!
Steven gets a close-up of this guy
We make it to the observatory (or the "playhouse" as Ellie called it!)
Looking out over the park. SJ is asleep in there!
Yes, those 3 brown spots along the water are ALL ALLIGATORS! We had to walk by all 3 of them. This was the one time Steven asked for Mary Clare's walking stick and apparently had a plan to use if he needed to, one that included poking alligator eyes!
Deep breath...we made it!

Sliding Stevens
Baby's First Park Swing!
What a day!

What a great use of an "EXTRA" day!

Hmmmm... I have no idea what park you went to. I'm going to have to do some googling to figure it out. Jonathan would go nuts over the alligators. I looks like you guys had a great day.
Wow, that would freak me out. Very brave, B family.
Yep, that park is a little too much for me. I've seen how fast and suddenly alligtors can snap on tv...I really have no desire to experience it in person. We have walked down those same trails with the gators right there on the side (not with kids). I don't really have a desire to take them anytime soon. I think they look possibly too yummy to resist. I would like to go down to the observatory sometime though when something cool is happening in the skies. We've never made a point to do that.
YIKES!!! I don't think I could handle being that close to 'gators! Especially with my kiddos who might get the notion to take one on!!
Bravo to the brave B Family!!
I had no idea the gators were going to be this close! But once we passed by the first time (with BopBop in the lead), I felt more confident walking by the others. My heart was still beating hard though! I don't think we'll go back to this place (at least this location at the park) anytime soon! Colleen, it's Brazos Bend, but I hear that Huntsville also has lots of alligators!
Wow that looks super scary!! I dont think I could ever go to that park. Brice might find it more exciting!
Thanks, Blair!
That's really scary, especially since Animal Cops Miami at 4:45 am (while nursing Abby) had an alligator that was eating stray dogs as they went to get a drink of water. No gators for me thank you!
