Homeschool Curriculum Plans Fall 2012


I've finally compiled my list of materials and links for our curriculum this year.  Many of these (particularly Seton workbooks) were started in the middle of the last school year, so we'll complete them and move on as needed.  I'm really enjoying our new materials of the All About Spelling and Phonetic Zoo, along with the Apologia Anatomy science program.  Let me know if you have any questions or advice for me!  We're on Week 4 (2nd week of full-time school), and it's going well so far.


Mary Clare, 4th grade

Religion:
4x/week
Seton Religion 3, cont. (possibly Religion 4 when complete)
Various saint books and bible stories

Math:
5x/week

Language Arts:
Phonetic Zoo Spelling 5x/week
English 2 for Young Catholics (Seton) cont. 4x/week
MCP Plaid Phonics Workbook C cont. 4x/week
(move on to next level with each of these when completed)

Fine Arts:
Dance classes 3x/wk
Piano Lessons 1x/wk, daily practice
(still considering artist/composer study materials)

Latin:
3x/week

Science:
3x/week
with Journal and lab kit

History:
2x/week
Catholic Texans: Our Family Album (a book I received during a parish mission)
Texas History (or another state workbook to be purchased at a local educator store)
Plans to visit local state historical sites

Geography:
1x/week

Typing:
1x/week
Dance Mat Typing website

Literature Selections from Mater Amabilis and other novels, 5x/week 20mins/day

Faith & Life 2 and workbook
Various bible and saint stories
Literature for First Holy Communion and Confession prep--Blessed Imelda, King of the Golden City and study guide (PDF from Catholic Heritage Curricula, find by Google), and hopefully some time in the Montessori Atrium for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program
 
Math:
4x/week
Math U See Beta cont., begin Gamma when complete

Language Arts:
4x/week
English 1 for Young Catholics (mid-year as reading improves)
(continue to next level with each of these when complete)

Fine Arts:
Dance Classes 3x/week
Piano Lessons 1x/week, daily practice
(still considering artist/composer study materials)

Science/History/Geography:

Your plans look great! I need to get in gear to finalize mine. I have a good idea of what I am doing though. If you aren't sold on Abeka math, I recommend MCP. This will be our 5th year using it.
